This Week in Kindergarten
What a great
beginning to a new school year! We have been very busy learning the rules,
routines and procedures. We had a great time going to some of our specials like
Music, Spanish and Library. We will add Art and P.E. next week and Computer
very soon. We loved playing on the big playground and going down the big slide.
We also had a wonderful time guessing
what was in everyone’s share bag. So
far, everyone is adjusting very well to 5K.
Their first
phonics word list came home last Monday with their sight words. They did a great job reading the words to me
today. I will send home the binder every
Monday with a new list. If there is a word that is not checked, it means they
didn’t know it very well. Please review the words to help them learn them and
remember them. Please help them to remember to bring their folders every day
and their binders on Friday.
Our next
unit will be “COLORS” and our letters for the week will be Ee and Aa. We will be learning our short vowel sounds
the next two weeks before learning all the consonants. They are off to a great
start. If you have any questions about
phonics or any subject in 5K, please call or write a note and I will be happy
to explain things. Also, OPEN HOUSE will
be Tuesday night at 6:00. We will meet
in the sanctuary and then come to the room.
You can ask questions then but if you would like to set up a conference
time to talk about your child privately, I would be happy to do that also.
Remember,
to send their “All About Me Backpacks” back by Monday. They will be displayed in the hall at open
house.
